This is a 12-month full time internship program jointly offered by CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited and the Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK). Students from Engineering, Information Technology and relevant disciplines currently studying their 2nd year in the 2011 - 2012 academic year are welcome for applying this program.

Job Responsibilities / Content :

Position 1 - NOS :

• Understand the daily operation of Network Operations Department and pick up basic technical knowledge in IDD service, mobile GSM, messaging and C7signaling through on-the-job training and learning programs
• Perform 7*24 hours shift daily operation and maintenance duties
• Participate in an intensive project to develop and enhance new/ existing monitoring tools or automation tool to facilitate and streamline NOC daily operations

Position 2 - ENT :

Part 1 - IDD Training

• Understand the daily operation of Engineering & IT Department and pick up basic technical knowledge in IDD wholesale/retail environment
• IDD technology training in TDM and VOIP areas
• Understand and experience the operation flow of IDD wholesale business operations, including customer provisioning, technical support etc.
• Participate in an intensive project in IDD area to deploy new system/ feature, enhance monitoring tools or automation tool

Part 2 - Mobile Communication Training

• Pick up basic technical knowledge in mobile communication environment, e.g. GSM and corresponding value added service
• Technology training in mobile GSM, messaging and C7 signaling areas
• Understand and experience the operation flow of mobile signaling/ messaging exchange/ value added service business operations, including customer provisioning, technical support etc.
• Participate in an intensive project in mobile communication area to deploy new system/ feature, enhance monitoring tools or automation tool

Requirements:

• Year 2 student of Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines
• Strong interest in Telecom industry will be an advantage
• Familiar with PC software and applications; Good knowledge in Linux, UNIX, Java and XML etc. programming will be an advantage
• Good command in both spoken and written Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) and English
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill, good analytical and problem-solving ability
• Mature, self-motivated and willing to learn

Responsibilities:

• Manage voice routings, perform routing monitoring and problem investigation
• Responsible for cost analysis and control
• Other ad-hoc assignments instructed by supervisor

Requirements:

• Diploma in Telecommunication/Engineering or related discipline with experience in Voice operators and routing management
• Experience in Sonus, Nortel & Huawei NGN are preferred
• Good command of spoken and written Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) and English
• Computer literate with good interpersonal skills
• Good analytical skill, clear mind set and self-motivated
• Willing to work overtime and on demand to react to quality problems
• Immediate available is preferred
